Dead Nice founders Agnes, Sam, and Jasmine partnered with Trebuchet Games to create another bespoke game logo, this time for their VR title, Compass
Process
The Compass identity began with an exploration of the game’s core themes: discovery, audiovisual, magnetism and analog technologies. The brief was to create a logo that gives the feeling of exploration while avoiding familiar fantasy or sci-fi conventions.
Visually, the wordmark balances minimalist sci-fi typography with softer, more tactile details. The custom “C” draws from the form of a tuning fork, connecting the logo to ideas of sound and improvised technology, with the sound wave motif appearing to emanate from the fork.
Subtle asymmetry across the letterforms, particularly between “Com” and “pass”, gives the logo an unusual wave-like quality. The final delivery included both clean and lightly textured variants, using soft gradients, shadows and edge roughness to create a distinctive identity rooted in the Ghibli-esque adventure world with solarpunk aesthetics.
